The 16th Annual Grand Festival of Kalarupa and Dorje Shugden

The Djampel Pawo Buddhist Center has been annually promoting the Great Kalarupa and Dorje Shugden Festival since 2012, presided over by His Eminence the Venerable Kalden Tulku Rinpoche, with the purpose of spreading the enlightened activities of the Dharma protectors to all and bringing more peace, security, prosperity, and power to everyone's lives and projects.

The Festival takes place throughout the year and has two stages: preparation and conclusion. Participation begins with nominal sponsorship, which involves including one's name in the daily kangso prayers. Those whose names are included can also make requests using le-shin – small wooden tablets on which requests are engraved and blessed.

The preparation

The preparation phase begins immediately after the completion phase and lasts for one year. During this phase, Venerable Kalden Rinpoche and the members of the sangha prepare the protector's kangso, perform puja with unwavering commitment, and dedicate it with firm motivation and confidence to the names on the list of nominal patronage. Throughout the year, daily pujas are performed, asking the protectors to pacify negative developments, attract positive causes, and subdue adversities, so that the practitioner's path may be full of meaning.

The conclusion

With the perfect yoga guru, celebrating the birthday of His Holiness Kyabje Trijang Chocktrul Rinpoche and drawing on the strength generated by the uninterrupted practice of kangso, Kalden Rinpoche concludes the Festival with fire pujas, which purify the breaks, strengthen the path of practitioners and establish requests. The fire pujas are performed on the appropriate day for this type of puja, prior to October 15th, at Odyana Lhaptse, in the Serra da Cantareira.

Kalarupa

Kalarupa was entrusted by Buddha Shakyamuni with the care of all Dharma practitioners and those who believe in and have faith in Dharma actions. This protector maintains a commitment, made from time immemorial, to protect, assist in the development of activities, and attend to the requests of sincere practitioners and all who have faith in their relationship with protectors.

Kalarupa watches over us, especially during periods of great instability, lack of control, and internal and external violence. Stabilizing our relationship with Kalarupa is the best way to secure our lives in times of insecurity.

Dorje Shugden

Dorje Shugden is Manjushri, the wisdom of all Buddhas, in the form of a protector of the Dharma and a great friend of practitioners. With a smiling face, deep affection, and great compassion, he attends to those who approach him sincerely, present at all times: in difficulties and victories, in moments of doubt and moments of certainty.

He expressed his commitment to caring for everyone so that the supreme realization of Buddha Shakyamuni's teachings, promulgated in the form of the Lamrim by Je Tsongkhapa, Kyabje Pabongka Dechen Nyingpo, and Kyabje Trijang Dorje Chang, could touch all sentient beings, and thus help them find the excellent path of a life full of virtues, without ever deviating from the purpose of Bodhichitta.

How to participate

Nominal sponsorship of Kangso

This is the main participation in the Festival. Daily prayers will be offered based on your name. This participation is individual: for each name submitted, a contribution of R$ 210.00 is required. The name remains dedicated in the daily prayer book for 90 days, or until the end of the Festival, at which point names must be re-registered for the next cycle. The dedication can be renewed monthly for R$ 70.00, up to 365 uninterrupted days of prayers. Registration can be done at any time, and the name is included in the dedications as soon as it is submitted. To submit your name, send a message to the center's WhatsApp: +55 11 95078-1580.

Le-shin – orders

Nominal sponsors of Kangso can make requests through the dedication of le-shin, carefully prepared wooden tablets blessed by His Eminence the Venerable Kalden Tulku Rinpoche. Three lists of requests are available – peace, prosperity, and power – which can be filled out via the link: https://puja.djampelpawo.org/kalarupa. The requests are numbered and personalized; each request corresponds to a le-shin that is filled out and blessed. The cost of the le-shin is R$ 5.00 per request.

Remember that, in order to place orders for other people, they also need to have their name dedicated in the daily kangso: it is necessary to first send the person's name and make the contribution of R$ 210.00 for registration.

At the close

We suggest that all those who joined the Festival be present at the solemn closing ceremony, during the fire pujas of peace, prosperity and power, at Odyana Lhaptse, in the Serra da Cantareira.

Required on the day of the fire pujas:

  • Confirm your attendance;
  • to offer khata and kuyon.

Jangwa Puja – Festival of Liberation of the Dead

JANGWA PUJA – Festival of Liberation of the Dead

The Festival of Liberation of the Dead at the Djampel Pawo Buddhist Center is held annually on the full moon of the seventh lunar month. Presided over by His Eminence the Venerable Kalden Tulku Rinpoche, the Festival is conducted by the dadju class through the practice of Jangwa Puja, with the purpose of benefiting and liberating the deceased, from any era or generation.

This ceremony is a tradition of both Mahayana and Theravada Buddhism and has spread throughout Asia under the name of the Hungry Ghost Festival – a day dedicated to the liberation of relatives and loved ones who have passed away.

During the puja, the consciousness associated with each of the names is rescued and purified; its negative karmas are removed, and the transmigrant is led to the Pure Lands of Buddha Akshobhya, where they receive the prophecy of enlightenment and the possibility of a future rebirth under favorable conditions and focused on the practice of Dharma.

Furthermore, this practice also assists the living by removing spiritual interferences that may be affecting their lives. The sincere Dharma practitioner has a committed devotion and has taken the bodhisattva vow to care for all sentient beings until enlightenment. Thus, the Jangwa fulfills both perfectly, for those who have passed on and for those who remain.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

Participation in the Festival is exclusively through the dedication of names. Jangwa Puja is intended for people; we will soon indicate the appropriate puja for animals, other beings, and illnesses. Throughout the year we receive the names of deceased loved ones and pray them in the daily dedication book for transmigrants for 90 days. With this, the transmigrant is included in the next Jangwa Puja.

To include the names of deceased loved ones in the ceremony, a contribution of R$ 150.00 per name is required, via the following link:https://puja.djampelpawo.org/.

The names received are added to the list until we finalize the list of names for the ceremony. Names submitted after this point will be included in the following Jangwa Puja.

Names already registered in the book do not need to be resubmitted: in Jangwa Puja, the transmigrant's name is registered only once.
