Kalarupa and Dorje Shugden Festival
The 16th Great Annual Festival of Kalarupa and Dorje Shugden
Every year since 2012, the Djampel Pawo Buddhist Centre has held the Great Festival of Kalarupa and Dorje Shugden, presided over by His Eminence Venerable Kalden Tulku Rinpoche, with the purpose of spreading the enlightened activities of the Dharma protectors to everyone and bringing more peace, security, prosperity and power to each person's life and projects.
The Festival takes place throughout the year and has two stages: the preparation and the conclusion. Taking part begins with a name sponsorship, which includes the name in the daily prayers of the kangso. Those whose name is included can also make requests through the le-shin – small wooden tablets on which the requests are inscribed and blessed.
About the Festival
The preparation
The preparation stage begins immediately after the conclusion stage and lasts one year. During it, Venerable Kalden Rinpoche and the members of the sangha prepare the protector's kangso, perform the puja with unwavering dedication and, with firm motivation and trust, dedicate it to the names on the sponsorship list. Throughout the year daily pujas are performed asking the protectors to pacify negative ripenings, attract positive causes and subdue adversity, so that the practitioner's path may be full of meaning.
The conclusion
With perfect guru yoga, celebrating the birthday of His Holiness Kyabje Trijang Chocktrul Rinpoche and relying on the strength generated by the uninterrupted practice of the kangso, Kalden Rinpoche concludes the Festival with the fire pujas, which purify broken commitments, strengthen the practitioners'path and establish the requests. The fire pujas are held on the day suited to this kind of puja, before 15 October, at Odyana Lhaptse, in the Serra da Cantareira.
Kalarupa
Kalarupa was entrusted by Buddha Shakyamuni with caring for all Dharma practitioners and for those who believe and have faith in Dharma actions. Since beginningless time this protector has kept the commitment to protect, to help develop the activities and to look after the requests of sincere practitioners and of all who have faith in their relationship with the protectors.
Kalarupa looks after us, especially in times of great instability, loss of control and inner and outer violence. Stabilising our relationship with Kalarupa is the best way to safeguard our lives in times of insecurity.
Dorje Shugden
Dorje Shugden is Manjushri, the wisdom of all the Buddhas, in the form of a Dharma protector, and he is a great friend of practitioners. With a smiling face, deep affection and great compassion, he responds to those who turn to him sincerely, present at every moment: in difficulties and in victories, in moments of doubt and in moments of certainty.
He made the commitment to care for everyone so that the supreme realisation of the teachings of Buddha Shakyamuni, propagated in the form of the Lamrim by Je Tsongkhapa, Kyabje Pabongka Dechen Nyingpo and Kyabje Trijang Dorje Chang, might touch all sentient beings, helping them find the excellent path of a life full of virtue without ever straying from the purpose of Bodhichitta.
How to take part
Please note: everyone, from beginners to advanced practitioners, must follow the points set out in the Visitor's Guide before attending any activity at the centre.
Name sponsorship of the kangso
This is the main way of taking part in the Festival: daily prayers are made in your name. Sponsorship is individual: each name sent requires a contribution of R$ 210.00. The name remains dedicated in the daily kangso for 90 days, or until the Festival closes, when names must be entered again for the next cycle. The dedication can be renewed month by month for R$ 70.00, up to 365 uninterrupted days of prayers. You can join at any time, and the name enters the dedications as soon as it is sent. To send your name, register through the link below and send a message to our WhatsApp.
Le-shin – requests
Name sponsors of the kangso may make requests through the dedication of le-shin, small wooden tablets carefully prepared and blessed by His Eminence Venerable Kalden Tulku Rinpoche. Three lists of requests are available – peace, prosperity and power – filled in through the link: https://puja.djampelpawo.org/kalarupa. Requests are numbered and named; each request corresponds to one le-shin, which is filled in and blessed. The le-shin offering is R$ 5.00 per request.
Remember that, to make requests for other people, they must also have their name dedicated in the daily kangso: you first need to send the person's name and make the R$ 210.00 contribution for their sponsorship.
At the closing
We encourage everyone who has joined the Festival to be present at the solemn closing, at the fire pujas of peace, prosperity and power, at Odyana Lhaptse, in the Serra da Cantareira.
On the day of the fire pujas, please:
- confirm your attendance;
- offer a khata and a kuyon.
